How did we even determine which are the best cities for singles in NC?

To be able to list the best cities for singles in NC, we had to take a bunch of metrics into consideration. For starters, Moving Kings NC researched the type of people who live in each city. Then we made several assumptions about what single people like to do and where to go. We did a lot of surfing the internet for a database that would provide all that information to us. We used the 2013-2017 American Community Survey Census data which they produced for the state of North Carolina. Then we examined every last city in the state. What attracted our attention the most is:

  • Population density
  • % of the population that’s as much as equal when it comes to the gender ratio
  • % of households with kids
  • Average age
  • Number of unmarried people in each city

We used this data to create an assumption of where singles would flock considering what appeals to younger generations, then gave each city a singles score. But we had to limit our sample to cities with populations over 10,000 people. So, the higher we scored a town, the better it is for singles to search for a partner.
